With lockdown well behind us and summer around the corner, as a family, we have decided to spend more quality time together by going away more often.
We all know travelling with kids is not easy, but I love seeing my little ones adapt and discover a whole new world, remember the twins were just 18 months when lockdown hit us and the local travel bug has surely hit home with them.
We started road tripping with the boys last year, and the furthest we have ever taken them was this 2.5hour road trip to the Karoo to visit AfriCamps at Karoo 1, Hex Valley.
We are an outdoorsy family, so glamping is a major hit on our list.
AfriCamps has got it all!
We had the perfect wintery weekend away, with so much to do at our site as well as the Karoo1 Hotel Village.
There are 13 luxourious glamping tents at AfriCamps at Karoo 1, Hex Valley which offer majestic views of the Karoo and mountain area.
We adore this location which is the definition for peace and tranquillity, but there are also other adventurous activitivies to do like hiking, mountain biking, swimming in the kloof pool or even rock climbing. The main hotel has a restaurant, bar, boma, shared pool, and kids' play area.
AfriCamps tents are a spacious 75m2 and comes with an en suite bathroom with a luxurious rain shower. It boasts a fully equipped kitchen with 4-burner gas stove, open plan living area with lounge and dining table.
It has lights and power points, air conditioning, a cute wood-burning indoor fireplace, a private braai facilities at each tent and an outdoor wood fired hot tub.
There’s Cutlery and crockery for 5 guests, pots, pans and utensils, a bar fridge, microwave, coffee press, kettle, toaster, braai utensils, dish washing liquid, dish cloth and towel.
The elevated deck is 30m2 elevated decks and there’s a picnic table, 2 deck lounger chairs to breath in those spectacular views.
There are two separate bedrooms that sleep a total of 5 guests. Bedroom one has an extra length queen size bed and bedroom two has an extra length queen size bed and a single bunk bed on top
All beds have electric blankets, clean bed linen and winter blankets.
Both bedrooms have private access to the bathroom, plug points for cell phones in each bedroom plus reading lights.
